The Proxies Guide to Dry January: Week 1

Happy New Year! Are your resolutions still on track? Around here, Dry January is a common one but personally I like to aim for a Dry-ish January—cutting back on drinking after the holidays, resetting to a healthier lifestyle overall, and not being overly dogmatic about not having alcohol if I choose to every once in a while.

While different approaches work for everyone, I firmly believe the key is to bring a mix of mindfulness and a sense of fun to any resolution you may have. To help, each week this month I’ll be sharing the Proxies Guide to Dryish January filled with my suggestions, helpful tips, sneak peeks at new releases, and a little view into my dryish journey. So let’s get into Week 1…

Monday (Today!): Sign up for Sunnyside. I signed up before the holidays and I’m already enjoying the mindfulness and flexibility our friends at Sunnyside bring to their app designed to help you cut back. If you want to join their Dry Jan challenge along with me, sign up free today and let the resolutions get rolling.

Tuesday: Takeout Tuesday. The first day back at work is always tough, so treat yourself to some takeout tonight and pick your perfect NA pairing. In my house that will be Chinese and a bottle of Vinta, our collab with Pinch Chinese’s Miguel de Leon.

Mid-Week: Explore the wide world of non-alc. We always appreciate your support drinking Proxies, but make the month more fun by checking out some of my other favorite non-alc products like Parch’s Prickly Paloma, Ghia’s Le Spritz, Blind Tiger’s Ward 8, Three Spirit’s Nightcap, Gnista’s Barreled Oak, Wilderton’s Earthen, and The Pathfinder. Not to mention a whole host of NA beers like Athletic, Partake, and Al’s.

Weekend: Eat at a Restaurant. Restaurants have it tough in January. Diners tend to stay home after the holidays, trying to stay healthier and save a little money. But we love going out in January—you’re likely to get more attention and more appreciation than ever, so get out and support your favorites. Even better if they serve Proxies or you can bring a bottle of your own to make the meal even more special. Treat yourself and feel good for doing it at once.

Sunday: Toast to you. Cheers to one week of 2024 and your Dry or Dryish January down with a glass of Gold Crush or the sparkling of your choice because bubbly makes everything better, especially the Sunday scaries.

That’s it. Week one in the books. Stay tuned throughout the week for more news including a sparkling release that can become your new favorite and a fun contest to win dinner on us. See you soon for week 2.

Cheers,
Charlie
